While we brave most weather conditions, we also prioritize safety. Students and staff should always be prepared for outdoor activities like recess, unless otherwise announced.

What conditions might lead to the cancellation of student transportation?
Transportation may be cancelled due to:
- Extremely cold temperatures
- Hazardous road conditions (e.g., poor visibility, heavy snow, drifting, flooding)
- Any situation that results in a school closure
Where does RCSD get its weather information?
We rely on Environment Canada, checking conditions at 6:00 AM, including both temperature and wind chill.
What are the temperature thresholds for cancelling transportation?
- At -45°C or colder, all RCSD transportation (yellow buses, vans, and paratransit) is cancelled.
- At -40°C or colder, we cancel:
- All paratransit services
- Use of hydraulic lifts on specialized vehicles
