Select students, staff and parents from St. Gabriel School in Biggar gathered around two tables eagerly awaiting their video premiere at Inclusion Saskatchewan’s annual fundraising breakfast on October 2.
Inclusion Saskatchewan seeks to ensure that all people are valued, supported, and included in every aspect of life, building and inspiring an inclusive Saskatchewan by empowering and valuing people with intellectual disabilities.
In the first of three videos, students share their story of having Sami in their class and the importance of belonging, representation, and understanding in school.
Sami’s parents, Andrew and Candace, share their perspective on navigating inclusive education, celebrating milestones, and advocating for classrooms where every child belongs. This second video shows how inclusive education empowers families of children—both with and without intellectual disabilities—and strengthens communities by embracing diversity in all its forms.
In the third video, principal Allison Stevenson shares her perpective on how inclusive practices not only benefit students with disabilities, but also enhance empathy, collaboration, and academic success for all students.
