Prince Albert Catholic Schools Living Christ’s Mission and Celebrating His Presence

Sep 17, 2025 | Prince Albert Catholic School Division

Each year, the Prince Albert Catholic School Division proudly shares stories of faith in action—moments when our students and staff live out the Gospel through service, compassion, and justice. For the 2024–2025 school year, our spiritual theme, “Living Christ’s Mission,” ignited a spirit of generosity and purpose across all our schools. Inspired by Catholic Social Teachings, our school communities embraced service projects that honored human dignity, promoted solidarity, and uplifted the vulnerable.

At St. John Community School, students were recognized for their acts of kindness—each good deed written on a heart and added to a growing display that filled with love month after month. This visual celebration reminded us that every person is created in the image of God, and that even the smallest act of kindness can reflect Christ’s love. Upon entry of St. John Community School, every guest would be struck by the growing presence of the acts of kindness heart in the foyer of the school. Celebrating the uniqueness of person. Powerful celebration of Christ’s presence in each of the students!

École St. Anne School embraced a school-wide mission of service. Students raised funds for Hope’s Home, collected food for the food bank, visited Mont St. Joseph Home, and cleaned up their school grounds. These efforts reflected the call to care for the poor and vulnerable, and to be stewards of creation—living examples of faith in action. These service projects were directly focussed on the community and each classroom engaged in dialogue and collaboration to select their service projects. Over 650 students partook in a service project for each grade. That’s impact!!

At St. Catherine Catholic School, students painted orange rocks with messages of hope, love, and peace in honor of truth and reconciliation. These rocks were placed throughout Prince Albert, offering comfort and encouragement to those who found them. This project was a powerful expression of solidarity and healing, reminding us that reconciliation begins with compassion and understanding.

École Holy Cross brought joy to care home residents during the Christmas season. Students created cards, delivered them personally, and sang carols—offering companionship and warmth. Their actions reflected the Catholic call to build community and to honor the dignity of every person, especially the elderly and isolated.

At St. Michael Community School, students led prayers in Indigenous languages over the intercom, celebrating cultural heritage and promoting inclusion. This beautiful gesture uplifted voices reminded us of the importance of respecting diversity and affirming identity. Children are proud to learn and share their indigenous languages!

St. Francis School extended their care beyond international borders by preparing 15 shoeboxes filled with school supplies and food for families in need through the Samaritan’s Purse foundation. Their generosity reflected the principle of global solidarity, showing that Christ’s mission knows no boundaries.

During Lent, École St. Mary High School took on a vibrant service initiative. Students visited care homes, walked dogs and cleaned at the SPCA, helped at local museums, and made bracelets for a staff member’s mission trip. These acts of service reflected the full spectrum of Catholic Social Teachings—from care for creation to community engagement—and showed that faith is most powerful when shared.

The Catholic Education Centre also played a vital role, preparing Christmas hampers filled with food and gifts for families in need. This act of love and generosity reminded us that serving others is a sacred responsibility, and that Christ is present in every act of giving.

As we look ahead to the 2025–2026 school year, we are excited to embrace our new spiritual theme: “Celebrating Christ’s Presence.” This theme invites us to recognize and rejoice in the ways Christ is alive in our schools, our communities, and our everyday lives. Whether through a smile, a helping hand, or a moment of prayer, we will continue to celebrate the sacred in the ordinary—and to see Christ in one another.

We look forward to another year of faith-filled learning, joyful service, and meaningful connection. Together, let us continue to be the hands and feet of Christ in our world.
