May was a month rich in learning, reflection, and community building at our school. We are proud to celebrate the many meaningful experiences our students engaged in throughout the month.

We were honoured to welcome Elder Lyndon Linklater, who worked with our students to set up a traditional tipi and lead teachings on Indigenous culture and reconciliation. His presence offered students a hands-on opportunity to deepen their understanding and respect for Indigenous ways of knowing, as we continue our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation. Our Grade 7/8F and 7E students recently had the opportunity to take part in powerful days of learning and reflection as they visited Wanuskewin Heritage Park and the historic site of Batoche.

In Batoche, students walked through the rich history of the Métis people and learned about the events of the North-West Resistance. They were able to connect classroom learning to real places and stories, gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges, resilience, and contributions of Indigenous and Métis communities in Saskatchewan’s history

Later, at Wanuskewin, students explored the deep cultural and spiritual significance of the land to the Northern Plains Indigenous Peoples. Through hands-on activities and guided teachings, they gained valuable insight into traditional practices, storytelling, and the importance of respecting and preserving Indigenous ways of knowing.

As part of Catholic Education Week, our school embraced the theme “Pilgrims of Hope.” Each class participated in a pilgrimage experience, offering time for reflection on their personal faith journeys. Students explored how we can support one another, live lives rooted in compassion, and grow closer to God through service, prayer, and community.

Our K–Grade 4 students enjoyed the “Read and Feed” program every Tuesday and Thursday morning in May. Students read to adult volunteers and middle years peers, then shared a healthy snack to start their day with literacy and nourishment.

Our student leadership group attended the Passion2Action conference, where they learned about leadership, inspiration, and ways to engage and empower their fellow students. They returned energized and ready to put their learning into action in our school community.

A highlight for our Grade 6–8 students was a powerful presentation from Tyler Smith, Humboldt Broncos survivor and winner of The Amazing Race Canada. Tyler spoke candidly about mental health and well-being, resilience, and hope. His message deeply resonated with students and sparked important conversations about support and strength.

Our Grade 5 students led us in a joyful and prayerful Alleluia Mass, helping our school community come together to celebrate our faith during the month of May. Their thoughtful preparation and reverence made it a beautiful celebration for all.

We are so proud of our students for their engagement, leadership, and spirit of hope this month. May has truly been a time of growth—in heart, mind, and faith.
