There was plenty to celebrate at École St. Anne School as representatives from Prince Albert Catholic Schools joined community and provincial partners to recognize the positive impact of Saskatchewan’s School Playground Equipment Grant program. MLA and Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Alana Ross was on hand to announce the opening of a second round of grant applications. MLA Kevin Kasun emceed the event.
For Prince Albert Catholic Schools, the celebration was especially meaningful. All six of our elementary schools have benefited from the grant program, helping support playground improvements at École St. Anne School, École Holy Cross, St. Catherine Catholic School, St. John Community School, St. Francis School, and St. Michael Community School.
These projects are a wonderful example of what can be accomplished through partnership. School-based administrative teams and School Community Councils worked together to establish project plans and undertake the fundraising necessary to qualify for matching grant funding. Parents, guardians, staff, local businesses, donors, and other community supporters also contributed to making these projects possible.
At École St. Anne School, for example, $50,000 in grant funding helped advance a new playground project. The investment provides an active and welcoming space for students as well as children, families, and school community members who use the school grounds.
The success of our six schools reflects the dedication of our principals, staff, SCC members, families, and community partners. Their willingness to work together and raise significant local funds allowed each school to take advantage of an important provincial funding opportunity and move projects forward.
Prince Albert Catholic Schools is grateful to the Government of Saskatchewan, the Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association, our School Community Councils, and everyone who contributed to these projects. Together, six school communities turned local fundraising, and a shared commitment to children into lasting investments for students and families.
