A name can tell a story. It can show who we are and what we value. To mark the end of Catholic Education Week 2026, we are proud to share the name of our new school under construction in Regina’s Harbour Landing area.
This moment comes from our first podcast episode of Beyond the Intercom. In this episode, you will hear how the name was chosen and why it matters to our school community.
Beyond the Intercom – What’s in a Name?
Spoiler alert: In the podcast, you’ll learn we’ve named the school after St. Carlo Acutis. He was a young person who used his gifts to help others and share his faith. His life reminds us that young people can make a big difference. His name will guide our school as a place of kindness, learning, and care for others.
But this name was not chosen alone.
Students played an important role. They shared ideas, researched their choice, and submitted their suggestions. Many students suggested names that showed faith, hope, and service. Their voices mattered in this process. Below, you can watch a short video of some students at Deshaye Catholic Schools sharing why they suggested the name they did, and what it means to them to know their suggested name was chosen.
As we move forward, the name St. Carlo Acutis School will help guide us each day. It will remind us to be caring, brave, and ready to learn.
Thank you to our students, families, and staff for being part of this journey.
The students at Deshaye explain why they chose St. Carlo Actutis for the new school in Harbour Landing West.
“To always be united with Jesus, this is my life plan.”
