On April 28, our Grade 12 students from Miller Comprehensive Catholic High School made history at the Legislative Assembly! They had the incredible opportunity to experience democracy in action at the Saskatchewan Legislative Building.
A total of 133 students and four teachers attended a live session of the Legislative Assembly — recognized as the largest group to sit in on a session at the Assembly. Students from the Social Studies classes of Mme Holliday, Ms. Mazur, and Ms. Kosloski, joined by Mr. Wolf (Education Leader), took part in this memorable and meaningful learning experience.
For these Grade 12 students, the visit brought classroom learning to life in a powerful way. Sitting in on a live session allowed students to witness government, debate, leadership, public service, and civic responsibility firsthand. It was an opportunity to see democracy not simply as a concept studied in class, but as a living process that depends on informed, engaged citizens.
Miller extends a sincere thank you to Nicole Sarauer, MLA for Regina Douglas Park, for her warm welcome, generosity of time, and commitment to engaging young people in the political process. Her welcome helped make the experience even more meaningful for our students and staff.
Moments like this remind us that student voice matters, leadership matters, and civic responsibility matters! We are proud of our students and teachers for representing Regina Catholic Schools so well and for taking part in such an important opportunity to learn, reflect, and engage.
