A range of activities, prayer services, and special events were part of Catholic Education Week May 22 to May 29 in Catholic schools across the diocese of Saskatoon.

A number of Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools held Treaty 6 medal installations (LINK to related article), others held retreats, special prayer events, field trips and special projects.

Holy Family Catholic School in Saskatoon concluded the week on Friday afternoon, May 27, with a special basketball game between students and a clergy/religious team led by Bishop Mark Hagemoen, which also included Sr. April Mireau, PM, Fr. Gerard Cooper, Fr. Joseph Salilhu, Fr. Darryl Millette, Fr. Gregory Roth and a recent confirmand, Osazemhinde Oseghale.

The visiting team joined students in the school gym for a Liturgy of the Word led by Grade 6 students. The gospel was proclaimed by Fr. Gerard Cooper (rector/pastor of nearby Holy Family Cathedral), and Bishop Mark Hagemoen offered a reflection.

After the prayer service, the game began, with four 4-minute quarters—each featuring students from different grades. In the end, there was a 26-26 tie.
